Travel Medicine
Travel safely: we advise you, vaccinate you and prepare you to enjoy your destination with peace of mind.
Why is it important to have a travel medicine consultation?
When it comes to health abroad, prevention is better than cure. A travel medicine consultation helps you to anticipate the health risks of your destination. Did you know that a simple bite in certain areas of the world can transmit serious diseases such as yellow fever or dengue fever? At Clinic Santa Maria we not only talk about vaccinations: we inform you about endemic diseases, food hygiene, water care and specific precautions according to the type of trip you are going to make.
Just as you check your suitcase before you leave, checking your health is an essential part of the journey. Preventing preventable illnesses not only protects your well-being, but also avoids medical complications far from home. Through personalized attention, we help you travel with peace of mind, with professional knowledge and support at every step.
Possibility of both face-to-face and online consultations, through video or telephone consultation. We have a system for generating and sending electronic prescriptions electronically.

How do we perform the travel medicine consultation at Clinic Santa Maria?
At Clinic Santa Maria we offer you a unique service in Mallorca. Our approach goes beyond the country of destination: we tailor recommendations according to the specific city or region you are visiting. During the consultation – face-to-face or online – we spend between 45 minutes and an hour reviewing your medical history, understanding your itinerary and assessing specific risks. We tell you which vaccinations you need (and we administer them in the clinic, except for the two that are managed exclusively by Public Health), what medication to take, how to set up your first aid kit and what measures you should follow according to your activities.
In addition, you will receive a detailed report of about 7 pages with all the personalized information and an International Certificate of Vaccination valid before authorities. Because your trip starts here, and your health is our starting point.
For whom is traveler's medicine recommended?
Travel medicine consultation is recommended for anyone traveling to countries with specific health risks, especially tropical areas or destinations with vaccination requirements. It is ideal for tourists, aid workers, people traveling for work or studies, families with children, the elderly or people with chronic diseases that require an even more careful approach. It is also useful for those on adventure tours or long stays abroad. Do you plan to visit more than one country or rural areas? Are you going to live with local communities or travel in different conditions than usual?
Then this service is for you. Travel medicine not only prevents diseases, it also offers clear guidance so you can enjoy your experience safely and without surprises. At Clinic Santa Maria we adapt the consultation to your reality, your destination and your health.

Frequently asked questions about travel medicine
When should I make an appointment for a travel medicine consultation?
The ideal is to come at least 4 weeks before the trip, since some vaccines require several doses or a certain time to generate immunity. However, if your trip is closer, don’t worry: at Clinic Santa Maria we adapt to your situation and we will offer you the best possible protection depending on the time available. The sooner you come, the more complete the preventive plan will be. Are you traveling and don’t know where to start? We help you get organized step by step.
What vaccinations can I have at Clinic Santa Maria?
We can administer practically all the necessary vaccines for international travel, except for two specific ones (such as yellow fever) that can only be administered in centers authorized by Public Health. The rest, including hepatitis A and B, typhoid, meningitis, rabies, Japanese encephalitis or diphtheria-tetanus, among others, you can receive them directly at our clinic. In addition, we provide you with an International Certificate of Vaccination recognized by the authorities of the destination countries.
Can the consultation be done online or remotely?
Yes, we offer travel medicine consultation both in person and by video call or telephone. Our medical team can advise you in the same depth wherever you are. We will review your itinerary, medical history and send you a detailed report by mail. If you need vaccination, we will coordinate the application at our clinic or refer you to a nearby center if you are already outside Mallorca. Because taking care of your health should not depend on where you are.
What is included in the report provided after the consultation?
We provide you with a personalized report of approximately 7 pages, in which you will find: an analysis of the specific health risks according to country, city or region; the recommended and administered vaccines; prevention measures against infectious diseases; food, hydration and safety advice; and an adapted first-aid kit plan. We also give you an International Certificate of Vaccination. It is a clear, useful and official guide that you can carry with you throughout your trip.
What if I already have some vaccinations?
In that case, we review your vaccination record or your medical history to complete only what you need. We do not apply unnecessary doses or repeat schedules: each recommendation is made after an individual assessment. Travel medicine is not a standard protocol, but a personalized accompaniment. Our goal is to protect you without over-intervening. And if you have lost your medical record, we can also help you to reconstruct your history.
What type of travelers can benefit from this service?
This service is useful for all types of travelers: tourists, backpackers, business travelers, students in international programs, aid workers, families with children, the elderly or patients with chronic illnesses. If you visit rural areas, have long stays or complex itineraries, the consultation is even more advisable. We adapt to you, no matter if you go for pleasure, work or social commitment: your health always travels with you.
How long does the consultation last and what is done during it?
The consultation lasts approximately 45 minutes to one hour, during which we review your health status, vaccination history, complete travel itinerary and planned activities. We assess risks by region (not only by country), indicate vaccinations, give preventive advice and answer your questions. We also physically check the patient if necessary. This is a consultation where you are listened to, explored and guided in depth, not a quick 5 minute appointment.
What differentiates Clinic Santa Maria from other centers?
Our big difference is time, dedication and personalization. We don’t give you a generic list by country: we analyze each region you visit and offer you a detailed report, vaccinations in clinic, advice in 3 languages and a human treatment that starts by listening to your story. Here you are not a number, you are a traveler that we help to travel the world with the confidence of being well cared for. If you are looking for quality, experience and proximity, you are in the right place.
